THINGS NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT LIFE

From the day you come into this earth, you are taught a lot of things but most of them focus on morals and ethics. If you have been raised by an African parent, they will mostly not say a lot of things directly but instead use silence, gestures and examples of what “so and so’s” son/ daughter did and it ended up either succeeding or ruining their lives. Anyway I have found life to be an interesting learning ground for anyone who accepts their situation and either tries to change it or go along with it. Here is my take on what life is all about…

1. Life is a song, sing it.

Knowing a person is like music, what attracts you to them is their melody, and as we get to know who they are, we learn their lyrics. You have the right to create the tune that you want your life to beat to. The results of your life showcase the music you have created over the years. Just put in mind that “a bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.”

2. Life is complicated, get used to it.

Life is very messy and no matter what you do, you always find yourself in some kind of puzzle or dilemma. I mean every choice you make changes another outcome and the cycle goes on and on.

3. Life is a drama, play your part.

This is a teaser for sure. Every moment of your life requires you to pull off some kind of acting. If you don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings, you have to display emotions and facial expressions of caring as you lay out your lie. Also, sometimes you pretend you care about someone yet all you want to do is stab them with a knife. The term “frenemy” is best suited here.

4. Life is a dream, make yours.

You can all agree with me that our life is based on the choices we make and the endeavors we categorically choose to follow. Hence, if you want any particular outcome, you must first build it up in your mind before you can project it. What you think is what you become so take control of your life.

5. Life is a fact, accept it.

Your existence in the world is not something you can down play or refuse to believe. “Whether you choose to move and let go of the past or you choose to remain stuck on the past, “LIFE GOES ON”. So instead of feeling self-pity take action to embrace what comes your way and let go of unnecessary baggage.

6. Life is a game, be the determinant.

Everything you do in life always ends up in some form of competition whether directly or indirectly. If you want to succeed you have to be better than others, if you want to get that A the same rule applies. So, just learn to choose your opponents wisely and teach yourself the play book. “Don’t Hate the Players, Change the Game”

7. Life is a gift, embrace it.

Learn to be thankful for the gift of life. So many people would give anything to be awake to see today and many other days to come but they can’t, so don’t take your life for granted. “God gave us the gift of life but it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.”

8. Life is a goal, achieve it.

Everybody has a purpose in this world. Just because you may not know it at the moment, it doesn’t mean you don’t have one. Just remember that “your life has a purpose, your story is important, your dreams count, your voice matters and you were born to make an impact.”

9. Life is a journey, take part in it.

Everyone has a different destination to get to in their lives and not everyone will understand your journey. That’s okay because it is not their journey to make sense of. Just always remind yourself where you have been and where you are going. “Life is not a race but a journey to be savored each step of the way.”

10. Life is a mystery, unfold it.

Everyone has hidden potentials in them which will never be realized until they try out different things and embrace challenges that may come along their way. I mean, the founder of KFC didn’t know that his ability to fry chicken would one day make him a billionaire. He failed at so many things and the one time he was about to commit suicide he decided to make his usual fry chicken and sell it and this became a hit. At 50, he realized his mystery and is now among the most successful people in the world. Just keep in mind that, “the mystery of life isn’t a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.

11. Life is sorrowful experience it.

Everybody experiences difficult times and bad days in this world, all you need to know is that this will always happen once in a while and you have to be ready for it. Nobody said it was going to be easy, but with time you learn to cope and forget the past pains and anguish. Every day as you wake up just remember that “worry does not empty the sorrows of tomorrow; instead, it empties the strength of today.”

12.Life is a wide ocean, swim through it.

As you live, you will notice that there is so much to learn, remember, experience and even at times forget. This is because life gives you a wide range of chances to explore so that you can live to your fullest. Just enjoy the swim but be careful not to drown from some of the horrible things you might face.

13.Life is unfair, deal with it.

We all know that there is nothing fair about life. I mean some people have plenty of everything and others lack everything. This is just how life is. So just suck it up and keep moving because no one has time for your philosophies or theories. The only person you can control is you so just find ways of making the situation better for yourself. “Don’t adapt to the environment, let the environment adapt to you.”

Just remind yourself that, in the end it doesn’t matter how many breaths you took but how many breathes took your moments away.

As you discover your purpose in this life, I hope you may have a laugh for every sorrow, a melody for every frustration, a tune for every song and a solution to every problem
