BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER

I’ve been walking around Nairobi for the last few weeks and all I could see was advertisements on Valentine’s Day and what you could buy or do to make the day so special. Restaurants had their own touch, boutiques doubled up with interesting attires and lingerie outlets had and still have all kinds of display aimed at spicing up any bedroom where the fire has died out. This got me thinking on what are some of the things people experience and would like to express in words to their significant other. Taking advantage of this day, I’ve decided to write a piece about love and may be possibly describe how some or all of you feel about your loved ones. I’m an amateur in this area but I still decided to write down some thoughts on love. This piece may ignore some aspects and also still capture some but love is like a camera, just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.

Each relationship faces its own challenges but what sets successful couples apart is how they choose to handle the tough times. The funny thing is that you will never know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have left. Just because things are a bit rough and tough right now does not mean that they will stay that way forever. Every problem has a solution and every question has an answer. Stop comparing your love story with that of others because your love story should be your favorite. Always remember that the reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel. Just look at your partner and tell them that “I do not promise you days without pain, laughter without sorrow or the sun without the rain but I can promise to give you strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.” Be assured these words will ignite in them a spark of hope, optimism and mostly a feeling of gratitude and appreciation which they will possibly not know how to reciprocate.

So, here are some of the things I could come up with on what you could possibly tell your significant other:

Your presence in my life makes every single heartbeat worth every breathing moment

Your tender eyes make my world beautiful because you bring out the best version of me

Your tender touch pushes out all the frustrations in my whole life while your warm embrace melts away all the sorrow beneath my smile

Your unrelenting support drives out all the fear that I have and instead replaces it with courage and charisma

Your smile lightens up my day by turning the grey clouds in my universe to blue skies

Your soothing voice rings in my head like an arrow and shoots all the pain in my life into the sky

Your laugh ignites my soul with a flame of serenity creating a rainbow that subdues all the dark storms in my world

Your kind heart makes our love shine in the dark night just like a star

Your optimism radiates in our union thus propelling us to push through the hurdles and remain firm like a pyramid

You lace my existence with pearls and keep saying that just like a diamond our love will never break

Rem;

“True love never loves someone because they are beautiful, it loves the person that makes their world most beautiful.”

And most importantly don’t forget to say, “I do not promise you a perfect relationship but as long as we are together, I will keep trying.”

We spend too much time looking for the right person to love or finding fault with those we already love, when instead we should be perfecting the love we give.
