Throughout our life, at every stage, we at times believe and aspire for the impossible. In most instances this is called imagination. Imagination is the act of creating images and convictions that are not present in the prevailing atmospheres. Children have been known to have the best and wildest imaginations. As we grow, for some reason this diminishes. We tend to let our environment and friends control what we desire and what we want. This however should not be the case because there is so much more to life than what we are exposed to. There is so much more out there that we don’t really know about to restrict ourselves to our shells where we feel safe and content.
You live by breaking out of your cocoon and like a caterpillar blossom into a butterfly which opens into a world that has more beautiful adventures and opportunities. Impossibilities can become possible. Several decades ago the thought of talking to someone in a different continent in real-time face to face was unheard of yet this is our current world at the moment. If the founders of the internet lacked imagination, then life would be so boring right now. We fly across countries because someone looked at a bird soar up in the sky and believed that they can create a machine that would emulate the flight of a bird. The Wright brothers aspired for the unimaginable and eventually they made it a reality. Like Albert Einstein once said, “Logic will get you from A to B but imagination will take you everywhere.”
“Imagination should be used to create reality, not to escape it.” Famous words by Collin Wilson. These words run deep given that what is imagined is mostly difficult to explain in words. I think the greatest gift we were given is our imagination because within it we have the capability to make all our wishes come true. I mean, look around you, everything that you experience directly or indirectly was once in someone’s imagination. Think of a simple concept like bottled water, people had drunk water for generations from cups, boreholes and so on but it took one man’s imagination to introduce the concept of bottled water that is purchased at stores. To date, people have continued to embrace this concept and even go further with it.

For some, the usual trend is enough but for others, the desire to reach unimaginable heights is a fire that burns deep in their core and lights up every few years. The truth is, wherever imagination is, knowledge is not enough because imagination will beat it every time. You will never grow if you blind your eyes with history but you will prosper if pursuing the dreaded is what drives you. Life starts at the end of your comfort zone so no matter what remain resilient because success is a journey that may take decades. Let no one fool you, imagination may get you there but determination will keep you there. The best way to predict the future is to create it. Dream boldly and widely but then remember to open your eyes and live. If you transform your imagination to reality, then you will have ultimately achieved your purpose on this world and when the time comes to say goodbye, you will leave with no regrets and in peace.
