LONG DISTANCE LOVE

I lost it in the ocean.

It was only a cell phone,

But I found myself crying uncontrollably like a spoilt teenager,

As I watched it sink deeper towards its watery grave.

He had just texted…

“To the world you might just be one person, but to me you are the world” and

“If we were a storm, you’d be thunder and I’d be lightning.”

And it was at that moment that I realized why I had shed tears.

That tiny device was the lifeline to the most intimate human connection I had ever known.

My words ran dry and my legs became weak,

I found myself on my knees begging the one above…

“Please may I hear his voice once again”

Remember;

I don’t cry because we’ve been separated by distance, and for a matter of years. Because for as long as we share the same sky and breathe the same air, we’re still together.
